Little Girl, Little Boy

When we first began the adoption process some time ago, I started thinking about how, as adoptive parents-to-be, there are so many different aspects of the waiting process in comparison to a couple that's having a baby biologically. I started to imagine our future kids and felt close to them just by imagining our lives together. Tara and I have also talked about how we're looking forward to adopting a girl and a boy (in no particular order). I don't know when exactly we'll be united with them, but we already love them more than anything.

As we've mentioned numerous times, we are also looking forward to getting to know and grow in relationship with our future baby's birthparents. These are the inspiring individuals who make the amazing and selfless choice to give their unborn children the gift of life. If not for these great people, we would not have the opportunity to become parents. Birthparents, you are our heroes!

All of these thoughts morphed into this song...which I've finally decided to share with you.
Not the highest quality video, but it'll have to do for now. (Lyrics are below)
Hope you enjoy...

Little Girl, Little Boy
(c) 2011 Words & Music by Alan R. Atchison

Little girl, little girl
Though I've never met you, you're my world
And all I can do to be close to you now
is think of the things that we're gonna do...

Little girl, near or far

Can you feel my love wherever you are?
One day you'll see when you're home with me

and your mom and we'll be a real family...

Little boy, little boy
you're my light and my star and my joy

And I just can't wait to watch you grow into
the man that I know you're going to be...

Little boy, standing tall

Apple of my eye, I won't let you fall
No need to despair, my prince and my heir
you will know you are home

you are home, you are home

I promise always to stand right beside you
and I'll give you all I am for as long as I'm alive

Little boy, little girl
rest assured you'll always be my whole world
and until the day you come home to stay
you will not be alone, not be alone, never alone

  1. Lovely song with beautiful words! Luke (my 11-month-old son) loved it as well. He smiled and clapped for you! You will be wonderful parents when the time comes.
